Growth in the number of New Zealanders using internet banking slowed for the second time in three years, according to an annual survey of the banking industry by KPMG.
It said internet banking may be reaching "saturation point", but controversy surrounding a rewrite of the banking industry's code of practice that threatened to make customers liable for losses from internet banking fraud may have had an impact.
