Tweeting has been taken to a new level with the wife of the social media phenomenon's co-founder using the microblogging site to update people on the birth of the couple's son.
News agency AFP reported today that Sara Morishige Williams - wife of Twitter chief executive Evan Williams - delivered the San Francisco-based pair's first child yesterday.
"Dear Twitter, My water broke. It wasn't like Charlotte in Sex and the City. Now, timing contractions on an iPhone app," AFP quoted the Twitter feed as saying.
"The Contraction Tracker was fun until the contractions got painful.
"Admitted to hospital. Got the second-to-last room ... Epidural, yes please.
"The heartbeat monitor soothes the silence of a room that will shortly be anything but silent."
AFP said Williams later took over the Twitter feed.
"Operation Baby Launch continues on track, though a bit too slowly in my opinion. That's usually the case with big launches though."
Several hours after the birth, AFP said Williams tweeted: "Yes! Sara gave birth to a perfect baby boy. Both are well. 8 pounds, 21 inches! (3.63kg, 53cm). Smiles all around."
