Vodafone says 111 services were among those affected by a fault that left some of its fixed-line customers unable to make calls for much of the morning.

Spokeswoman Michelle Baguley said the fault occurred at about 6.30am and was fixed at about 11am.

She believed Vodafone had notified emergency services of the outage but was seeking confirmation.

Neither fixed-line nor mobile customers had been able to reach the company's call centres.

Vodafone has apologised on its website.
