The latest kitty craze sweeping the web is more bizarre than ever.

Coined 'cat-bearding' this half-baked practice basically consists of holding up an unsuspecting moggy in front of your face to create a furry, five-o'clock shadow for all of the internet to see.

Following on from last year's 'breading' phenomenon, which involved placing a hollow piece of bread atop the nearest furry face and taking an obligatory photo, cat-bearding even has its own website, cat-beard.com.

And yes, it's even more strange that 'bread' and 'beard' are an anagram of one another, god help us when someone decides to concoct a cat meme related to the word 'bared.'

So if you're having difficulty growing substantial facial hair, some cat treats on the desk should lure your house pet to the appropriate position and voila, an instant beard.
