Christmas stockings this year will be full of Apple i-gadgets, the Amazon Kindle and tablet computers, according to price comparison website PriceMe.

The site said iPad was the most-searched term in the year ending June, followed by iPhone, while iPod came in in fifth place.

The third most-searched product on the site is  the Amazon Kindle - with searches up 28 per cent on last year, which PriceMe said was due to the recent launch of the Kindle Fire tablet - a rival to the iPad.

The term "tablet" came in fourth place, while searches for Samsung's Galaxy Note up a whopping 257 per cent over the year.

PriceMe said Samsung was the seventh most-searched term and the most-searched brand overall, with searches up 19 per cent on last year.

It said Samsung's new Galaxy Note phone-table hybrid was also becoming very popular.

Brands increasing in popularity were Apple, up 33 per cent, Dyson, Miele, Samsung and Fisher & Paykel.

Brands on the decline included Nokia, down 20 per cent, Kenwood, HTC and Sony.

Home appliances remained popular searches on the site, with queries for heat pumps up 79 per cent, dehumidifiers up 49 per cent and Nespresso coffee machines up 24 per cent.
