Samsung has announced details of its Galaxy camera, which is powered by Google's Android operating system and has 3G and wi-fi connectivity.

The camera has a 4.8-inch HD Super Clear LCD screen, is powered by a quad-core CPU and has a 16.3 megapixel image sensor. It comes preinstalled with Instagram and Samsung's Paper Artist and makes posting images to social networking sites such as Facebook easy, the company says.

The Galaxy camera has a 21 x zoom lens and a 16M BSI CMOS sensor and features a smart mode, which has 15 options and settings that Samsung says makes professional-looking photography easy for anyone to achieve. It will shoot full HD video (at a resolution of 1920 x 1080 at 30 frames per second).

It comes with 8GB of in-built memory and has a memory card slot that supports micro SDSC, micro SDHC and micro SDXC.

The Samsung Galaxy camera will retail for $749 and will be available at selected retailers this month.
