From today, New Zealand Xbox 360 owners will be able to use social networking applications Twitter and Facebook on their console, and watch movies on demand.
Some time today, Xbox 360 owners will be prompted to download a software update which incorporates the Movies on Demand service and the Twitter and Facebook applications. You'll have to have a Gold Xbox Live subscription to use the Facebook and Twitter apps.
The movies, which will be available in both standard and high definition and will cost about $6 to $7 to rent each, will stream directly to your Xbox 360 console and will offer 5.1 surround sound.
The service will adjust the picture quality depending on the speed of your internet connection. There are about 100 movies on offer, with more to be added in the future.
