Here's a roundup of today's news found elsewhere on the internet:
Take-Two provides financial update, Max Payne 3 release rumours (Blues) - Take-Two Interactive announces preliminary revenue and earnings results for the fourth quarter and fiscal year ended October 31, 2009.
They are revising previous estimations downward "due to several factors, the largest being the performance of its Major League Baseball titles in the fourth quarter."
They also say "Max Payne 3 is now planned for release during the fourth quarter of fiscal 2010," which we are seeing reported as a delay, but Take Two announced the shooter sequel had slipped into their fiscal 2010 over the summer.
NPD: 82 per cent of kids are gamers (GameSpot) - For all the talk of reaching out to older audiences, games are still plenty popular with kids. The industry-tracking NPD Group today released results from its latest online survey, saying that 82 per cent of US children - some 55.7 million kids - are current gamers.
Tiger Woods games unaffected by scandal (GameSpot) - Woods' admission led to widespread questions about his myriad endorsement deals, which have helped make him a billionaire at age 33.
However, since then, Reuters reports that a litany of his sponsors, which include Procter & Gamble's Gilette razors, Pepsico's Gatorade sports drink, and Nike athletic wear, have said the scandal won't affect their deals with the athlete.
Joining that chorus of support is Electronic Arts, longtime developer and publisher of the Tiger Woods PGA Tour series of golfing sims. "Our strong relationship with Tiger for more than a decade remains unchanged," the company said in statement provided to GameSpot.
"We respect Tiger's privacy, we wish him a fast recovery, and we look forward to seeing him back on the golf course." (The same statement was given to other media outlets.)
Debit Your Way to that Next EA Sports Purchase (kotaku.com) - EA Sports and VISA have teamed up to put out a reloadable debit card whose purchases rack up "rewards points" redeemable toward video game purchases. Wait, what if you use it to buy an EA Sports game?
