A new Family Guy game will hit consoles in spring, Activision has announced.

Titled Family Guy: Back to the Multiverse, the game is based on one of the show's most popular episodes, Road to the multiverse, which saw Stewie and Brian skipping between alternate dimensions using a magical remote control.

"Fans of Family Guy will love that we've taken some of the series' most iconic and memorable moments and built them into an impressive and uncensored video game," said Activision's Executive Vice President David Oxford.

"Anyone who watches the show will appreciate how much we have adhered to its rich and twisted universe and characters."

The game will adhere closely to its source material by using the show's writers, as well as the full voice cast.

Details are currently thin on the ground regarding gameplay, so our guess is that it will be a pixel-hunt puzzler in the vein of Myst, or perhaps even a platformer along the lines of 2K's 2006 Family Guy game.

For updates, see Activision's official site.
