British actor and True Blood star Camilla Luddington has been named as the new voice of Lara Croft.
According to talent scouts, Luddington stood out by delivering both the depth of emotion and the youthful tone that would help define the iconic heroine in the upcoming Tomb Raider origin story.
"This has been one of the most important jobs for us to get right," said Darrell Gallagher, head of studio at Crystal Dynamics.
"This Tomb Raider game is very different to any other and we are demanding far more from the voice and performance acting than ever before as we take the franchise in a new direction."
If the game's Crossroads trailer is anything to go by, Luddington had better be ready for a whole lot of sceaming and groaning.
She previously played Kate Middleton in the William & Kate TV movie and appeared in season five of Californication as agent Charlie Runkle's new nanny.
Tomb Raider is due for release on March 5, 2013.
