State of Decay is finally available in New Zealand via the Xbox Live marketplace, with an Australian release assured thanks to a rating by the Australian Classification Board.
The open world survival horror title was initially refused classification in Australia, however a resubmitted version with 'supplements' in the place of 'stimulants' has been given an R18 rating. It will be available soon.
No reason was given for the delayed release in New Zealand, although when the game didn't surface Undead Labs pointed the finger at publisher Microsoft Studios and the country's government as possible culprits.
"I assure you that we at Undead Labs didn't sit around and try to think of ways we could screw New Zealand," it said.
State of Decay is already a big success, racking up more than half a million sales on its way to becoming the fastest-selling original game in Xbox Live Arcade history.
Its sequel will be an MMO, said Undead Labs.
State of Decay is available now for 1600 Microsoft Points.
