TVNZ has dropped Saatchi & Saatchi as its advertising agency in favour of AimProximity, a specialist in digital media.
The state-owned broadcaster declined to say how much it spends on advertising each year but it is a large account. It uses a separate agency to book advertising.
Jason Paris, head of digital media at TVNZ, said the change was not about cost cutting.
"This is around brand and digital leadership," he said.
TVNZ used Saatchi & Saatchi for about 10 years.
The agency worked on campaigns promoting Dancing With The Stars and the rebranding of TV One and TV2.
