The man charged with injuring cricket international Jesse Ryder will go on trial in March 2015 - almost two years after the charge was laid.

The 38-year-old builder, who has interim name suppression, is charged injuring Ryder with reckless disregard for his safety in an incident in Merivale, Christchurch.

He has pleaded not guilty.

The case is set for a jury trial in the Christchurch District Court in the week of March 2 next year.

The man is represented by Jonathan Eaton QC as defence counsel.

The Crown will allege Ryder received the head injury in the incident that began at Aikmans Bar, Merivale, early on March 28, 2013, and ended with injury being inflicted outside in a car park.
