A third person has now died in relation to a fatal motor crash in central Christchurch on July 10th.

Police have released the name of the woman as Karleane Marie Magon.

She became the third person to lose their life, after the driver of the vehicle, who was on life support since the crash, became the second person to die earlier this week.

Tama Regan Dobson aged 27 years, died at Christchurch Hospital on July 27th after the decision was made to turn his life support off.

One person - Shannon Smiler-O'Connor a 26-year-old front-seat passenger - was killed on impact when a Mitsubishi Lancer with six people in it crashed into a concrete power pole at the intersection of Moorhouse Avenue and Manchester Street.

The car had earlier failed to stop a routine police check.

Police and the Independent Conduct Authority (IPCA) were investigating the crash.

Oh dear there are now three young people dead. That is the saddest thing, stop for the Police, take your medicine and LIVE!!!!!! What a senseless waste of young lives. So many families involved. So many people left behind to grieve. Life is for living --- just what do you young people not understand about that !!!!!! Please stop thinking you are bulletproof. I am near 70, I know I am not bulletproof, but hopefully I have a few good years left to enjoy my grandchildren. That is what life is all about.

All I can say is thank God they didn't kill an innocent member of the public.

It is just so very, very tragic when young people die; and I just hope so hard that anybody, everybody, if they are signalled to stop by police (who are just trying to keep the roads safe), that in future they do. Nevertheless, we all make mistakes from time to time, and I feel very sorry for the families involved.
