A wheelchair-bound woman has been freed after she was trapped in a car that had gone down a West Coast bank.

A police spokesman said the car had run off Bell Hill Rd, near Moana, just before 2pm on Friday.

The car had gone 3 metres down a bank. The woman, who recently had surgery and was in a wheelchair, was initially trapped in the car.

She was removed from the car by emergency services and treated for minor to moderate injuries.

It is understood the car was a rental vehicle.
