Harvey Norman reopens in Moorhouse Ave
Retailer Harvey Norman has today reopened at its retail complex in Moorhouse Ave.
The February 2011 earthquake had necessitated repairs and quake-strengthening work to the Harvey Norman Centre building which took nearly two years to complete.
Following the quake, the Harvey Norman computer superstore and its electrical department relocated to separate premises in Sydenham, and the furniture and bedding department relocated to Hornby.
All have now returned to Moorhouse Ave.
The building has now been strengthened to 67 per cent of the new building code. Strengthening work was completed last year and handed over to tenants in December.
Today was the first day of trade with an official grand reopening to take place on Saturday.
Fellow tenants Laser Strike and Cityfitness gym have also reopened in the centre.
The ASX-listed Harvey Norman has 28 stores in New Zealand and a Norman Ross computer and electrical store in Christchurch, Auckland and Palmerston North.
