Get a grand view of city's rebuild
Christchurch's construction workers took centre-stage as part of a project allowing an insight into the city's rebuild.
Gap Filler's Grandstandium, a moveable 35-seat grandstand on a trailer, was hauled in front of The Crossing development yesterday, in the block between Cashel, Lichfield, Colombo and High streets, to begin the weekly Eyes on the City event to check on the recovery's progress.
A live commentary allowed viewers a deeper glimpse into what was unfolding.
"We hope that the grandstand makes it more accessible for people to turn up and learn a bit about an activity they're not that familiar with and also explore the intricacies and quirks of this city," Gap Filler director and co-founder Coralie Winn said.
Eyes on the City will happen every Monday between 12pm and 1pm in different locations.
Gap Filler is an urban regeneration initiative that temporarily activates vacant sites in the city.
