Fashion at the Trentham Races is a serious business and two Dunsandel ladies have represented Central Canterbury in style.

Gloria and Maria Wright, a mother-daughter combo, stole the show. Maria won the show's newest category, hat of the carnival. She made the hat herself and mother Gloria made her dress.

There were six categories this year and Stephanie Noble, 24, was the supreme winner on the day.

Stephanie wore a dress and hat made by her mother, featuring Kiwi-themed birds and plants with a Japanese kimono influence.

Trentham is in Upper Hutt, Wellington.
