Football great returns to fun day
Central Canterbury News
Former All White Wynton Rufer will be back again at the Family Funday & Football Fest at Oaklands School in Halswell, on February 17, to pass on some football tips to youngsters.
Mr Rufer and his team will provide free coaching for children aged 6 to 12, as they did last year.
Organiser Gideon Hoekendijk predicts 7000 people will attend the event, going on the figures from last year's inaugural fun day, which drew more than 5000.
He said the main feature of the day, though, is that all the rides are free, including the Titanic, obstacle course, Chair-O-Plane, mini jeeps, merry-go-round, ZORB ball, pony rides and jumbo bouncy castle.
Live music and entertainment includes several bands, dance groups and a magic show, with spot prizes to be won throughout the day.
"It's been a difficult few years in our city and this will put a smile on all our faces as the community comes together to celebrate family life, " Mr Hoekendijk said.
