The Dux Dine has won the People's Choice Hospitality Award in The Chevrons, the Christchurch Hospitality Awards, after getting thousands of votes online from Press readers.

New hospitality ventures in Christchurch were honoured last night at the Christchurch Hospitality Awards.

Dux Dine is one of two spinoffs from the popular inner-city bar and restaurant Dux de Lux. Richard Sinke opened Dux Dine in late 2012 in the old stationmaster's house in Riccarton Rd.

Readers were asked to vote for the venue they were proud to show off to out-of-town visitors. The peer-reviewed awards are the first of their kind since the Canterbury earthquakes. reflected "New Christchurch" with the majority of winning establishments new to the city. Many awards went to establishments that reinvented themselves in the post-quake environment.

Dux Dine cleaned up by winning Restaurant of the Year, New or Returning Establishment of the Year as well as The Press People's Choice Award.

Restaurant Association Christchurch branch president Sam Crofskey said to be be "recognised by their peers" was special.

Crofskey's C1 Espresso took out Cafe of the Year. C1's High St location was demolished after the quakes, but Crofskey reopened in the Old Post Office building.

"It's exciting to see the Canterbury hospitality industry supporting and celebrating each other during this time of great challenge," Crofskey said.
