Cold showers in Christchurch this morning should clear in the afternoon.

The weekend is off to a wet, grey start in Christchurch but the sun should show up in the afternoon.

A fresh southerly will keep temperatures down with a high of 12degC and a low of 6 degC.

The Rotary Club of Avonhead is holding a 'Monster Charity Garage Sale' this morning until 12:30pm.

Items on sale come from donations of unwanted and usable household goods, with all proceeds going to Charity. 

Later in the afternoon, the Imagination Station on Worcester St will have a 90 minute technics architect challenge at 4pm.

Lego experts will show kids aged 8-12 how to use Lego Technic to get the most our of buildings, set them competing against each other to build the strongest structures and work on a design challenge.

General admission is $10.

Tomorrow should be off to a sunny start, with northeasterlies developing. Temperatures will go up to 13 degC but drop to 3 degC overnight.
