Rhys Darby is bringing his new comedy show This Way To Spaceship to Christchurch in October.
In it he promises to take audiences on an autobiographical journey from meek geek to king of cool.
''This show is a handy guide to living your life like you're the champion no one's heard of,'' he said.
Darby will shoot the DVD of this comedy show at his Christchurch show.
''I started my performance career there, I lived there, started in stand-up there, met my wife there, studied there and I know that Christchurch people can laugh with the best of them,'' he said.
Darby is currently performing Spaceship at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, as part of his UK tour, with reviewers describing the show as ''brilliantly crafted'' and as ''having the crowd in stitches from start to finish.''
The show is the live version of his first novel, This Way to Spaceship, ''a handy autobiographical end of world companion'' which was published earlier this year and stayed at the top of the International Bestseller List in New Zealand for seven weeks.
Tickets to the show, to be held at CBS Canterbury Arena on October 3 are on sale now through Ticketek and are priced from $55 - $65. Booking fees may apply.
