Dating site reveals what Chch men want
If you are a woman with blonde hair, blue eyes, a casual drinker, nonsmoker and never attended university, Christchurch men consider you the "perfect woman", according to a dating-auction website.
At WhatsYourPrice.com men can name the highest price they are willing to pay for a first date with a member.
The qualities male members found most desirable were ranked according to the average amount offered for a first date.
On average, Christchurch men paid about $91 for a first date on the website.
However, based on the results of the study, they were willing to pay an average of $259.70 to go on a first date with the 'perfect woman'.
A woman with blonde hair could fetch up to $147.38 more than her brunette or redhead counterpart, and blue eyes also saw an additional $27.24.
A casual drinker was on average an extra $18.94, and an additional $14.91 for a nonsmoker.
The results also showed Christchurch men on average bid more for woman who never attended university.
This added a further $51.23 by comparison to woman with a higher level of education.
Christchurch men's perception of the 'perfect woman' was almost identical to that held by New Zealand men overall.
The only difference was the level of education.
Overall New Zealand men preferred woman with blond hair, hazel eyes, who is a nonsmoking and social drinker, with a bachelor's degree.
However, the ideal woman for Auckland men was the complete opposite.
Their perception of the 'perfect woman' had red hair, hazel eyes, was also a social drinker and non-smoker, but who held a doctorate.
Auckland men paid on average $142.56 more on an auction for a woman with red hair, an extra $37.12 for hazel eyes, $24.31 more for a social drinker, $18.94 for non-smoker and an additional $61.32 for a doctorate holder.
On average they were willing to offer $284.25 to go on a date with the 'perfect woman'.
The website, which was launched in April 2011, has over 450,000 members worldwide.
There are 175 Christchurch members, 1150 from Auckland and 159 from Wellington.
The website said the site provided a venue for "generous people to get to know attractive people they normally wouldn't meet".
"As for the attractive singles who are tired of wasting their time dating losers, we have thousands of generous gentlemen (and women), waiting to take you out on a real date.
"By offering a little incentive, attractive members are more inclined to take a risk on someone who isn't their usual type, and if the date goes sour, at least they won't be going home empty handed," the site claimed.
However, men and women do not need to accept the first date offer.
They can also counter the offer with a different price.
