TV in more adventurous Trade Me sale
Not much can come between a man and his television, but four Christchurch men, who liked to feed the ducks with theirs, believe it's time they all parted ways.
Christchurch flatmates Damien Taylor, Scott Allan, Ronan Broad and Alex Woodham have gone to extraordinary lengths to sell their television - taking photos of it helping them with the flat grocery shop, feeding the ducks, and busking for rent money.
Their auction on Trademe has sparked thousands of views and close to 100 comments.
Taylor said the TV was just taking up a lot of room in their flat, and they had three other televisions already.
"It's not so much about the money, we've had it a long time and we didn't pay too much for it. But we thought we'd just have a bit of fun with it," he said.
It had also been hard work though.
"It was difficult getting the TV to the different places and we had to ask permission from the store manager to take it inside the supermarket.
"But by far the most work has just been monitoring the auction - questions are just coming through constantly."
The men had spent many hours playing their favourite Playstation game, Jonah Lomu Rugby, on the 43-inch rear projection screen, but Taylor said it was time someone else got to enjoy it.
He said they had contacted Kidney Kids and all proceeds from the auction would be going to that charity.
The only thing the flatties would love is to meet Jonah Lomu one day.
