A stunning sunset inspired a Christchurch photographer this evening.
A pink, blue and yellow scene was shot by Dennis Radermacher, who emailed his image in to share with Press readers.
"I noticed that you sometimes publish pictures of unusual cloud formations and particularly stunning sunsets," he said.
"I was out shooting at New Brighton beach tonight when I managed to capture a truly amazing sunset. Even after three years of living in New Zealand the place still manages to amaze me with its sheer beauty."
Radermacher said he snapped the photo about 100m north of New Brighton Pier about 5.15pm.
The sunset signals the first day of a week of mild weather.
North-westerly winds and warmer temperature should see snow in inland Canterbury begin to melt.
Christchurch residents will enjoy highs between 15 and 17 degrees Celsius until Friday, MetService says.
