QUESTION OF THE DAY
Q: Can the city council please tell me why there are only two rubbish bins available in Fendalton Park? I walk through there each day and the containers are overflowing. Rubbish is even lying around the bins. This park has a cycleway through it as well as a playing field. It services the Fendalton Bowling Club, the Croquet Club, and also another bowling club, a playground, a Plunket room and two car parks. The park is used daily by people walking dogs. Can we please have at least one more bin?
A: Presently, the rubbish bins are emptied three times per week. Before considering adding further bins, council will trial increasing emptying bins to five times weekly. The contractor will keep an eye on bin levels and advise whether anything further needs to be done.
