Welcome to a wrap of what's happening in Christchurch today.
Low cloud this morning should clear for another warm day with a high of 23 degrees Celsius. Cloud will return again this evening.
Tomorrow will have cloud and a chance of rain, but is still aiming for a high of 27C with northeasterlies.
Morning cloud of Friday will clear for a high of 29C with gusty northerlies. The warm, dry weather should linger over the weekend.
South Brighton drivers are warned that Bridge St will be one lane only from 9am to 2pm today and tomorrow as Scirt prepares to jack the bridge. There will be a stop/go system in place.
The bridge will be jacked over the weekend of December 14/15 so the damaged abutments can be rebuilt. The bridge will be closed from 6.30pm Friday 13 to 6am Monday December 16.
QUESTION OF THE DAY
Q: Regarding Linwood Village at the intersection of Worcester Street and Stanmore Road - planning appeared to be well under way. Concept plans done. But it has been a long time with no sign of development. Is there a reason?
A: According to the Linwood Village Master Plan document the plan will be implemented in stages, some of which require input from organisations and people other than the city council, for example business owners and community groups. Works also require funding. Most work is scheduled in the one-three year time frame, with some things like parking projected to be in the three to 10-year bracket. The online document provides more detail at the city council's website.
