Thousands enjoy annual Santa Parade
Santa spectators treated to a few surprises
The rain and thunder held off for the thousands of spectators and performers in this year's Santa Parade.
An estimated one in four Christchurch residents watch the parade, which has been running for 65 years.
This year's event had a new twist with a "munted" house one of the favourite attractions.
The 1.9km parade along Riccarton Road ran from 2pm til about 3.15.
The long wait was tough for some youngsters whose families arrived early to get the best spots, though others brought electronic entertainment to help pass the time.
Floats ranged from farm animals to fairy tale characters, and of course there was Santa himself.
