Welcome to a wrap of what's happening in Christchurch today.
Christchurch residents can enjoy fine weather heading into the weekend, with a high of 19 degrees Celsius forecast today.
Don't forget the sunscreen tomorrow when a high of 27C is expected along with fine weather most of the day, except for some morning and evening cloud.
The sunshine is not set to last though, with periods of rain and strong northerlies forecast on Sunday.
Occasional showers are expected to continue through the first part of next week, with highs of 21C forecast on both Monday and Tuesday.
The NZ Transport Agency (NZTA) has issued strong wind cautions for those travelling on several South Island highways this morning.
The warnings have been issued for State Highway 7 (Hanmer Springs to Springs Junction), State Highway 87 (Kyeburn to Outram), State Highway 8 (Raes Junction to Milton), State Highway 90 (Mcnab to Raes Junction) and State Highway 1 (Dunedin to Gore).
NZTA says motorcyclists and those driving caravans, campervans or other high-sided vehicles should take care.

QUESTION: When are Estuary Rd and Blake St being sealed properlyl?
ANSWER: A section of Blake St (66-78) will receive a kerb to kerb rebuild. For the remainder of Blake St and Estuary Rd the road will be patched to improve the overall journey along the road. These road repairs will take place this year and will be done by Scirt delivery team, Fulton Hogan.
