Christchurch is in full bloom with the Festival of Flowers showcasing arboreal creativity from around the world.

Everything from topiary giraffes and elephants to floral bungalows and gardens made out of cars - the festival attracted hundreds of tourists into the city.

Eiji Karada from Japan was tasked with re-imagining the Cathedral Square Chalice with 7000 plants that he used to contrast with the sharp edges of the cathedral itself.

The festival features exhibitions, workshops and performances around the centre of Christchurch over February.
