GREY MORNING: Cranes on Durham St above central Christchurch on a grey, brooding morning.


Cloud will hang around this morning and evening, but the temperature is expected to reach 23 degrees Celsius with northeast breezes dying out.

A few showers will develop tomorrow and winds will be southwesterly for a while, for a high of 21C.

Thursday is also expected to have a few showers and light winds, with a high of 22C.

QUESTION: The busy roundabout intersection between Prestons and Marshlands roads is dangerous and needs attention. It manages a large volume of traffic that is rapidly increasing as the new subdivisions go ahead. When will the intersection be more safely controlled by traffic lights to facilitate the heavy traffic associated with the challenges of replacing communities on the perimeters of our city? - Linda Hunter.

ANSWER: Preparatory work is under way at the intersection to install traffic signals. Signals are expected to be installed by May 2014 - Christchurch City Council.
