The man who climbed Mt Everest when he was 23, broke his back in three places in a parachuting accident and slept inside a camel carcass is coming to Christchurch.

Adventurer Bear Grylls has announced he will perform a live stage show in Christchurch on November 28.

Grylls achieved fame on the hit television show Man vs Wild, where he parachutes into remote locations and claws his way back to civilisation.

The show is one of the most watched on the planet, reaching viewers in more than 200 countries and with an estimated audience of 1.2 billion.

During his two-hour show, Grylls will share his experiences of survival in the world's jungles, mountains and deserts.

Audiences will also see footage and hear stories from his time with the Special Air Service and the French Foreign Legion.

The show will contain "on-stage action, fire and bug-eating" and is being billed as a "rare opportunity" to see Grylls and hear his incredible tales first-hand.

Tickets to the Christchurch show will be available from Ticketek from September 17. Grylls will also visit Wellington on November 30 and Auckland on December 2.
