Ringo Starr has announced a show in Christchurch next year.

Together with his All Starr band, the 71-year-old Beatles drummer will perform one show in Christchurch at the CBS Canterbury Arena on February 7 and one show in Auckland on February 9.

They will be his first New Zealand shows since he toured with the Beatles in 1964.

The tour follows his North American tour dates this year and features the same All Starr band - Steve Lukather (Toto), Gregg Rolie (Journey, Santana), Richard Page (Mr Mister), Todd Rundgren (Nazz et al), Mark Rivera (Peter Gabriel, Billy Joel) and Gregg Bissonette (Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Spinal Tap).

"The tour this summer in the United States was just great," Starr said.

"I love playing with this band and I can't wait to get back out and play with them again. I am looking forward to revisiting New Zealand and bringing the All Starrs. Peace and love."

The two-hour concert will see Starr performing songs such as It Don't Come Easy, Photograph, Little Help From My Friends, Yellow Submarine and Wings from his recently released, and 17th, solo album, Ringo 2012.

The All Starrs' hits include Black Magic Woman, Rosanna, Broken Wings and Hello It's Me.

Starr has toured with lineup variations of the All Starr band since 1969. This is the 12th such lineup.

Starr was the lead vocalist on Octopus's Garden, I Wanna Be Your Man, What Goes On and Good Night from the White Album, among others.

Tickets will go on sale on October 30 through Ticketek.
