Show-off shoes for Cup Week
What to wear with heels and flats at Cup Week
KATE FRASERRelevant offers
Dress
The new shoes of the season need a fashion check. What to wear with the highest heels, the flattest flats and styles from simple to baroque has never been so easy.
BLUE MOOD
Cool footnote in peppermint $149.99 by Miss Sofie from Shoe Connection
DIZZY HEIGHTS
Wear with your best take on Mad Men, taking care to channel the 60s standouts. Wasp waists, full skirts, clutch bag, straight seams (stocking alert!). Not your style? Go to the winner's circle in your staight-as-an-arrow lace sheath dress: Zizi stiletto, $270 from Quinns.
COLOUR BLOCK
Wear with the simple shift dress that is of course a riot of blooms. Nothing too sweet - this shoe is full frontal so go for it. With moolah in mind, better back anything sporting racing colours of gold and brown. Audley toe-peeper $355.00 from Head over Heels.
FLOWERS AFOOT
Wear with a severe trouser suit preferably in a single shade, say, of orange or red, anything to make a contrast, really. Cup Week is all about flamboyance so do start from the ground up, not the head down. Nude peeper shoe, $179.90 from Andrea Biani.
BRIGHT LIGHT
Wear with anything that doesn't shriek Little Miss Muffet - the only exception being anything with a peter pan, the season's hot collar. Good with three-quarter full skirts (think Audrey Hepburn) but, please, no cartwheels in the members' enclosure. Mollini ballerina $119.90 from Andrea Biani.
CLOSING TIME
Wear at the end of a day spent trotting around in teeter-totter heels. Should there be a walk of shame the next morning, lose the hat and high heels and slip home in these. Stash in your racing tote until needed. Django and Juliette flat, $189.90 from Moda Bella.
CHATTANOOGA SHOESHOE
Wear when you intend to arrive by train, plane or car. Do not attempt to walk the track in these. Good with city shorts, short skirts, cropped pants and garments that hug rather than glide. Mi Piaci Charmant $290 from Ballantynes.
DESERT DREAMER
Yes, we know this has a slightly casual air for Cup and Show Week, but this is the shoe-sandal to wear with harem pants - the new take on trackies (only kidding). It could be the best version of a summer boot - all the style, none of the sweat. Drew sandal $229, by Ziera.
