Stuck for dinner ideas? Well, have we got something for you tonight.

Gummy Bear sausages.

Yes, that's right, the sickly sweet treat meets pork.

New World Ilam in Christchurch have begun making the interesting combination. (Catering to the adjacent student population perhaps?).

Posting an image of the delectable meal on its Facebook page, most of the comments say the bangers are 'wrong' and 'revolting', but there are a few who would be willing to try them. Someone even suggested it would get children to eat their dinner.

But these sausages are nothing new (well, maybe to our shores).

The sweet and savoury sausage began at Grundhofer's Old-Fashion Meats in Hugo, Minnesota - the owner's mate just suggested the quirky flavour as a joke, but they soon discovered it was a sweet and sour taste sensation.

The odd combo has even spread states, and now a restaurant called Bangers in Austin, Texas - which sells over 30 types of sausage -has the Gummy Bear mash-up on its late night menu.

So would you try the sweet and savoury sausage?
