Eat and Drink
Finding new bars, shops and businesses in post-quake Christchurch is a challenge which a free mobile app hopes to help ease.
The Find:Chch app has been launched this week by the Christchurch City Council and The Press.
The app is based on Find:Chch.com, an interactive map of things to see, eat and do in Christchurch, as well as places to stay, or visit, and covers off the basics such as where to find a public toilet, ATM machine and free wifi.
The app, now available free for smartphones, has all 3500 listings included in the web-based Find:Chch.com site as well as reviews of cafes, restaurants and bars from Press reviewers and special deals for discount food or drink.
Christchurch City Council marketing manager Richard Stokes said as the pace of the rebuild picked up, new eateries and transitional city projects were being added weekly.
"We want the information on the Find:Chch app to be relevant and accurate for people who are on the move."
The app, compatible with all mobile device platforms, could be downloaded from the Apple Store or Google Play.
Businesses could list on the app free via the website www.findchch.com, or list a deal by contacting Kate Veale at The Press.
