A busy cafe is usually a good sign of a job well done, but in this case the coffee was disappointingly inconsistent.

The long black had been burnt during the extraction process.

Judging from the extremely dark colour of the crema, this could be due to over-packing of the coffee grinds when extracting, or coffee beans ground too finely for the machine's hot water pressure.

The flat white was a touch of redemption. Smooth and silky, and a more even, caramel colouring, with little sign of over-extraction.

The milk was hot but not burnt. Nicely presented in an appropriately sized cup, slightly too foamy for a flat white.

Service was good.
