A Somerfield resident's quick thinking and cool head lead to the capture of two burglars on her property on Friday.
An unnamed woman was able to call police and give assistance on Friday when she spotted two men on her property. She was returning home in a car at the time.
Having spotted a man in her driveway, the Rose St resident called 111 and provided a description and ongoing information to police as they sped to the scene.
A few minutes after the call was made, police were on the scene and were able to apprehend two offenders, one of whom was confronted by a neighbour.
The two men, a 20-year old and a 23-year old, both of Christchurch, appeared in court on Saturday facing burglary charges and were remanded on bail to reappear on 11 February.
Detective Inspector Le Bas says the quick thinking of the resident made the difference in this incident - enabling police to respond immediately and leading to the prompt arrest.
"We can't stress enough the value of getting that sort of information to police promptly. People should not hesitate to call police if they see any suspicious people, activity or vehicles in their neighbourhood."
