A wide open meadow in the CBD is sure to brighten up the city for tourists and locals alike.

A whole meadow is being gifted to Christchurch by Prestons Road Ltd - a company creating a subdivision with some excess soil.

More than 2000 cubic metres of soil will be delivered to the city by the company, in exchange for some rubble hardfill from Cera.

The rubble will be used to make the subdivision's new roads, and the dirt will make a meadow - quake recycling at its finest.

The donation will be planted and irrigated by Cera until the end of March.

It will be open for everyone to enjoy on the corner of Manchester and Kilmore Streets.
