Kick back and relax to the sweet sound of Songs for Christchurch, secure in the knowledge you have donated to charity and remembered those lost in the February earthquake.

The album has been two years in the making, and proceeds will be donated to four significant charities: Architecture for Humanity, Gap Filler, Life in Vacant Spaces, and Transitional Architecture.

Pioneered by Architecture for Humanity chief executive Cameron Sinclair in the weeks after the earthquake, the initiative was eventually handed over to Christchurch's Barnaby Bennett.

Mr Bennett took over the project and has pulled together an impressive lineup for the album, including Flight of the Conchords, The Eastern, Imogen Heap and Ladi6.

When it first kicked off, the idea was to produce the album in a few weeks, while the focus was still on post-disaster Christchurch. In the end it took two years, but Mr Bennett said it worked out well.

"I'm actually glad this has happened, because it's brought the focus back to Christchurch again, " he said.

This weekend the album will be launched alongside Art Beat at Re:Start Mall.

The album will be on sale at the event and there will be a free public concert at the mall.
