Two years on from the devastating February 2011 earthquake, memorial events will be held tomorrow, allowing residents and those affected to remember.

Civic Memorial: Noon, Latimer Square. Public event, all welcome. The service will be co-hosted by the Christ Church Anglican Cathedral with representatives from Ngai Tahu. A seating area at the front of the service will be reserved for bereaved family members. The service is expected to run for 45 minutes to one hour.

One Minute's Silence: Christchurch will respect one minute's silence in memory of those who died in the earthquake. The minute will start at 12.51pm. Those who wish to participate may mark the time in their own way.

River of Flowers: 8am till 8pm, February 22. People are invited to drop flowers into the Avon River and Heathcote River. Community groups will host the sites from 12.30pm till 1.30pm, with one minute's silence observed at 12.51pm. For a map of the manned flower drop sites, check out ccc.govt.nz.

Wainoni-Avonside Community group will hold a public service and remembrance, beginning at 12.45pm, 878 Avonside Dr, open to all.

Gap Filler is inviting people to visit the Pallet Pavilion and write their thoughts on paper to decorate the pavilion walls. All day. Live music and community chat from 7pm. Corner Durham and Kilmore streets.
