A pricey caravan stolen from outside a couple's home shortly after they returned from holiday has been found.

Police yesterday appealed for information about the theft, which happened in Enverton Dr, Rangiora, overnight Sunday.

A middle-aged couple returned from a two-week holiday and left their caravan chained to a truck outside their home about 6pm, Sunday, Constable Andy Davis said.

When they woke yesterday the chain had been cut and the caravan had disappeared.

Sergeant Colin Stewart said the caravan was found in Belfast, yesterday afternoon. It had not suffered any damage.

Inquiries were continuing to locate the people who stole it, Stewart said.

The distinctive caravan was imported from the United Kingdom last year and was worth about $56,000.
