A three car crash on the State Highway 1 saw motorists delayed during peak hour traffic this morning.
A police spokeswoman said the crash occurred on the Waimakariri Bridge about 7.47am.
The south-bound lane was blocked as a result, she said.
"It slowed traffic down this morning," the spokeswoman said.
It is understood south-bound traffic was at a standstill.
No one was injured.
