Australian model Miranda Kerr has joined the debate about an Australian banker left red-faced when a live TV broadcast showed him looking at her scantily clad photos.

Macquarie Bank worker Dave Kiely was at his desk as a colleague was being interviewed about interest rates when the camera showed him apparently opening email attachments of nearly nude photos of the model.

The clip became a hit on Google's YouTube site and other media broadcast it during prime-time. Macquarie Bank said it had investigated the incident and Kiely was to keep his job.

Kerr, a 26-year-old Australian-born model engaged to Pirates of the Caribbean star Orlando Bloom, said she hoped the banker would not lose his job.

"I am told there is a petition to save his job, and of course I would sign it," The Melbourne Herald Sun quoted her as saying.

London-based financial news-based website Here is the City set up an email campaign to help Kiely, saying he should not get fired because he has suffered enough and the pictures weren't hardcore porn.
