Beckhams to sell up in UK?

David and Victoria Beckham are reportedly planning to put their UK mansion on the market after deciding to move to America permanently.
The couple and their three sons Brooklyn, 11, Romeo, eight, and five-year-old Cruz relocated to the US in 2007 after David signed a multi-million dollar deal with soccer club Los Angeles Galaxy.
Victoria has since become a celebrated fashion designer, and has been open about how much she enjoys life there.
It has now been reported the pair have put their home in Sawbridgeworth, Hertfordshire, up for sale. The property – nicknamed Beckingham Palace – was bought for £2.5 million (NZ$5.4 million) in 1999 and is now thought to be worth around £18 million (NZ$38.6 million).
“Frankly they cannot see themselves ever returning to make London their full-time base. The children are settled, speak with American accents and David and Victoria are immersed in the laid back Los Angeles way of life,” a source told British newspaper The Sunday Mirror.
“They love it there – they’re well liked, have plenty of friends and feel it’s their spiritual home.”
David and Victoria have apparently been considering selling the home for the last six months. Although they love the property, they are said to have decided keeping it no longer make financial sense. They rarely have time to spend at the sprawling estate, and think it would be sensible to sell up and buy a smaller place in central London.
“Beckingham Palace takes a lot of looking after. They have a petting farm with miniature animals, swimming pools indoor and out and huge grounds,” the source explained. “Then this summer, the time they spent in Europe was at their South of France chateau. Sawbridgeworth just sits there empty. It made them realise it was pointless having it.”
The couple are also thought to be planning to buy an apartment in New York, where Victoria spends a lot of time due to her fashion firm.
The Beckhams’ spokeswoman has confirmed their Sawbridgeworth mansion has been valued.
