Christchurch metal group Tainted have been selected to support Metallica for their two Christchurch shows on September 21 and 22.
Tim Facoory said he was ecstatic.
''I've only just found out that it's happening for real a few minutes ago. I haven't even told the rest of the band yet. I'm going to sit them down soon and give them the good news.''
Also supporting Metallica are international acts, Fear Factory and The Storm.
Tainted released their album Carved and Created last year to much acclaim and Facoory said he was delighted at the thought of playing it for a large crowd.
''It means so much to us. Metallica are just gigantic legends and to think that we're going to be on the same stage as them is just unbelievable. All of the band are fans and their music has had a huge influence on us.''
