Russell Crowe is taking the rest of 2010 off.

The 46-year-old actor has been travelling constantly for the past two years. He lived in Wales for several months while shooting his latest film Robin Hood, and then spent six weeks flying all over Europe and America promoting the movie.

Russell's wife Danielle Spencer and their children Charlie, six, and four-year-old Tennyson always accompany him when he travels, and the whole family was relieved to arrive back home in Australia at the end of May.

Russell has now announced that he will not leave the country for the rest of the year so his children get the chance to settle into a routine again.

"I don't want to get on a plane again this year," Russell said at a press conference in Sydney. "I want again to take a step back and put a normal rhythm back into the kids' lives.

"I know what it is that turns me on in my job and I know if... something comes up that I want to do then I'm usually allowed to do it. I do the things that drive me from a pure place."

Russell recently announced he would voice a Ben Hur stadium show in Sydney in October.
