Armed robbers are on the loose after holding up an Armourguard security van outside an ASB bank in west Auckland.
Inspector Matt Fillars said three offenders confronted the Armourguard security guards inside the entrance to the bank at Westgate Shopping Centre, in Massey.
The hold-up happened around 4.50pm just before the bank was closing for the day. Police are not sure if all the men were armed - saying only "some" were carrying firearms.
"A quantity of money was taken and the offenders fled the scene in a vehicle. No shots were fired and no one was injured," he said.
It is understood a burnt out getaway car was found nearby.
Police were not confirming how much money the men managed to take.
It is the second hit on Armourguard out west in a short period of time.
Armourguard staff refilling an ATM machine at a service station in Glendene were confronted by armed robbers on July 27, at 3pm.
Again, an undisclosed amount of cash was taken.
