Police have confirmed the identity of a girl killed in a farm-vehicle accident near Twizel last Sunday.

She was Katie Jane Lamb, 7.

A death notice yesterday paid tribute to a "beautiful little girl" - the daughter of Simon and Amy Lamb and the "best ever" sister of Lachie.

"Shining down on us from the stars, forever in our hearts, we miss you baby bear," the notice read.

Katie's funeral will be held tomorrow afternoon at the Twizel Fire Brigade site.

Rural Canterbury area commander Inspector Dave Gaskin said police thoughts were with Katie's family.

"This was a tragic accident and our thoughts are with Katie's family at this very difficult time as they come to terms with what has happened."

He said it appeared that Katie had fallen from a vehicle and been run over.

The accident happened at noon.

The death has been referred to the coroner.
