Armed police are searching a Christchurch suburb after a man allegedly pointed a gun at another man.
The incident happened in the Marshland Rd area about 1.35pm, and armed police were searching for the alleged offender in the nearby suburb of Burwood.
Several blocks had been closed around Kirner and Chartwell streets, but the cordon was expected to be down soon, a police spokesman said.
"It's an operation in progress," he said.
A witness said several police cars were in the area.
More to come.
